The 30-year-old's switch to the Spanish club could be completed as early as today, bringing an end to a difficult period in which he has suffered from a loss of form and become a target of abuse from certain sections of the club's fanbase.

Albion are keen to bring in another right-back and are interested in Crystal Palace's Joel Ward, though a deal is unlikely prior to the weekend.

Boss Darren Moore has suffered a series of frustrations in his efforts to recruit in the position.

Moore pulled out of a deal for Luton Town's Jack Stacey in order to sign Tom James from Yeovil, only for the £400,000 deal to fall through when the player failed his medical.

Albion then made a bid of £1.8million rising to a possible £3m for Rangers captain James Tavernier which was turned down by the Scottish giants.

Nyom joined the Baggies from Watford for £3m two years ago and become a cult hero in his first season at the club.

But his form dipped dramatically last term and he has struggled again in the early weeks of this season, making a mistake which cost his team a goal in last weekend's 4-3 win at Norwich.
