West Brom youngster scores 10 goals in five games for England under-15s
A young Baggies striker has caught the eye by smashing in 10 goals in just five games for an England youth team.
Louie Barry racked up the impressive figures for England under-15s at a recent tournament in Italy.
The 14-year-old, who hails from Sutton Coldfield and has been at the club since he was six, scored once against Japan, twice against the United Arab Emirates, four against the Czech Republic, one against Italy, and twice against Austria.
He is following in the footsteps of 17-year-old Rayhaan Tulloch, who is expected to be named in the England squad for this month’s European U17 Championships.
“To score 10 goals in five games for England is outstanding,” said Albion academy manager Mark Harrison. “The previous best in that tournament was three goals.
“As much as I don’t like to publicise young players too much, I think I’d be doing him a disservice if I didn’t.
“The great thing about him is he’s been with us since he was six.”
Tulloch is also a striker, and has been scoring a goal a game for Albion’s under-18s this season.
He featured on the bench for the first team earlier this season and signed his first professional deal with the club in March.
He’s not the only Albion youngster who has received international recognition this season.
Sam Field is in the England U20s squad, defenders Nathan Ferguson and Kane Wilson have both been called up to England U18s, while Morgan Rogers has featured for England U16s.
Chisom Afoka and Rico Richards have been called up to England U15s, Dara O’Shea has captained Ireland U19s, and Pablo Martinez and goalkeeper Adam Pryzbek have been called up to Wales U19s.
“Some of those names are players the rest of the country would love to have taken from us,” added Harrison.
“They’re the Izzy Browns of this world, we’ve got similar there.”
Brown was a hotly-tipped Albion youngster who Chelsea snapped up at the age of 16 in 2013.
