Burnley are ready to offer Albion’s Craig Dawson a route back to the Premier League this summer and are contemplating a swoop for Matt Phillips too.

The Clarets want Dawson, who they rate at £10million, to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season, when they are highly likely to be competing in the Europa League.

They are also weighing up an offer for Phillips, who has improved under caretaker boss Darren Moore in recent weeks after a poor campaign.

Although the winger has failed to hit the heights of last season, Burnley believe they can rejuvenate his career and hope he will have a similar impact to that of Aaron Lennon since his January switch.

Sean Dyche is also keeping tabs on Burnley-born Jay Rodriguez, who started his career at Turf Moor, but the Albion striker is currently on £65,000-a-week at The Hawthorns and that is more than the Clarets are willing to pay.

Albion are bracing themselves for plenty of interest in their best players this summer, and are keen to keep hold of Dawson with fellow defender Jonny Evans expected to leave.

The 27-year-old still has two years left on the three-year contract he signed last summer and has been an ever-present in the team when fit for more than three seasons.

Last weekend, he reached 150 Premier League games for the Baggies.

Although he featured at right-back for Tony Pulis for almost two and a half years, he prefers to play centre-back, where he is currently enjoying a run of games.

Albion plucked Dawson from Rochdale in 2010 before loaning him back to the League Two outfit for a season.

Phillips was signed two years ago from Queens Park Rangers for £5.5m and enjoyed a stellar debut season at The Hawthorns, having a hand in 14 goals in total.

However, he’s struggled with confidence this season and only has two goals and three assists so far.

Rodriguez was born in Burnley and came through the youth ranks at Turf Moor, where he is still highly regarded.

When the Clarets beat the Baggies 2-1 at The Hawthorns last month, the visiting fans sang Rodriguez’s name.

Albion’s top scorer this season with 11 goals, he still has three years left on his contract.

Burnley will qualify for the Europa League if they hold onto seventh place. They are currently eight points ahead of Everton with three games remaining.
