Darren Moore still taking it one game at a time after West Brom's stunning victory over Manchester United

The 43-year-old masterminded a stunning 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford today to give the Baggies just their second league win since August.

He has picked up four points from his opening two games in charge, and accepted that supporters might now start linking him with the job.

But he's refusing to look more than one week into the future because it is that mantra that has served him well so far.

When it was put to him that he could soon be in the running if he kept winning games, he said: "I can't stop that. It's you guys who will write about it and the fans will probably predict it.

"All I'm doing, and I really mean it, is just taking it one game at a time.

"When I came in for Swansea it was just one game at a time. I'm not even focusing on that (the permanent job). I'm really not.

"Today's game, we've got a vital three points for us and it means so much for the football club as it does all the players.

"Whatever else goes on around it, I can't stop that. I'll just continue to focus on the games ahead."

The shock victory handed Manchester City the Premier League title and left Albion nine points from safety with four games remaining.

However, Moore is also refusing to be distracted by any talk of another Great Escape, as unlikely as it may be.

"I'm really not focusing on the position in the league," he admitted. "Honestly, all we're focusing on is the next game.

"Last week was the same against Swansea. It was a positive performance and result.

"We've come here today and added to that. We just take one game at a time. I know it's an old cliche but it really is that.

"It was good for the travelling fans to go back down the M6 with the points in the bag.

"I'm really pleased for them because they have been absolutely excellent this season.

"Despite how the season has gone, they've stuck with us and will continue to stick with us through thick and thin.

"I'm really pleased they've got something to cheer about. There's a feel good factor in some of the households back in the Midlands tonight."

Albion stunned United today with an organised and disciplined performance that nullified a toothless home side effectively.

Thirteen minutes from time, Jay Rodriguez scored his 11th goal of the season and his second in two games with a stooping header.

"We're pleased," said Moore. "It was a good performance today and we got our just rewards in the end.

"We've come up against a very good team who asked a lot of questions of us.

"But everyone stuck to their job and did everything we asked of them in preparation and in the week leading upto the game.

"When the ball did break for us I thought we used it well at times. We created chances from open play and obviously the goal came from a set play.

"We're very very pleased here at the club because it's three points. It stops the rot and it came against a very good Manchester United team."

Albion kept their first clean sheet since January and Moore, a former centre-back himself, appears to have solidified the back line. But he was quick to praise the whole team

"The whole performance right the way through," he said. "You defend from the front first, it's not just the back four. It was a collective team effort.

"Everyone to a man did their work today. We got a positive result and the performance we were looking for."

United boss Jose Mourinho criticised his own team for overcomplicating their moves and praised Albion for being solid and compact.

He said the only way the Baggies would score was from a set piece, but Moore disagreed.

"In general open play we had a couple of chances," he said. "If you're not going to score a goal from open play there's always the set plays. There's different ways of scoring. We're delighted that we got the goal that way.

"Jose said we didn't create much in open play because they dominated the ball a lot, you know when you come to Manchester United your work off the ball has to be very good.

"Today I was very pleased the players showed that."
