The Baggies could have taken more than 8,000 seats for the match because visiting sides are allowed 15 per cent of the capacity in the FA Cup.

However, they decided to take 1,800 when Liverpool called last Wednesday to know their full allocation.

At the time, demand on the first 900 tickets was sluggish, and so Albion booked the next 900 and no more.

They could have taken allocations of 3,000, 5,000 and 8,000.

However, because the Baggies travelled to Anfield last month and the game is being shown live on television, the club doubted they would be able to sell the larger amounts.

Any tickets the club do not sell in their allocation, they still have to pay for.

Although the Baggies have now sold out their 1,800 allocation, ticket experts behind the scenes estimate they would have only sold around another 100 this week.
