v Norwich City FA Cup 81/82

Cyrille Regis ended Norwich City’s Wembley hopes when he produced the Goal of the Season for West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup.

It was Regis whose spectacular effort decided the fifth round tie at The Hawthorns in 1982 and earned him the famous BBC accolade.

Regis controls the ball well, turns to head towards goal and then pulls the trigger from way out - an absolute stunner.

v Man United 1978/79

Ron Atkinson regards the famous 5-3 away win at Old Trafford as the quintessential WBA game from the period.

It is therefore fitting that Regis hit the final goal in the match with the typical gusto that made him such a huge Baggies favourite.

Laurie Cunningham sprints down the wing, feeds Ally Brown who finds Regis to smash the ball home, sending Albion fans wild.

v Middlesbrough 1977/78

Regis made his first team debut in a League Cup match against Rotherham United, scoring twice in a 4–0 win.

Three days later the striker made his league debut in a 2–1 victory over Middlesbrough.

Again he found the net, taking the ball from the halfway line to the penalty area before scoring with a right-foot drive.

Middlesbrough's David Mills, who later became a team-mate of Regis at Albion, described it as "a goal of sheer brilliance."

v Southampton 1980/81

Regis had his two best goalscoring seasons in 1980/81 and 81/82 and one of his best strikes came at in February 1981 at The Dell.

With Albion drawing 1-1 at the time, Regis picked the ball up on in the centre-circle, ghosts past two defenders and scores a wonderful goal.

Regis' pace is frightening, but the finesse of the finish shows a talent way-beyond his young years.

v Nottingham Forest 1978

Regis made a habit of exposing defenders' lack of pace throughout his career.

His FA Cup goal against Nottingham Forest was a classic example of pace and power.

A hopeful ball over the top bounces once, before the Regis fully extends to volley home from the edge of the box.

A young Peter Shilton doesn't stand a chance.
