Stuart Sinclair enjoying Walsall 'project'

The 32-year-old joined the club in the summer, teaming up with manager Darrell Clarke who he worked with at Bristol Rovers.

Despite injuries keeping him on the sidelines at times this season, Sinclair says he is thoroughly enjoying his time in the Black Country.

“I kind of knew what I was coming into, the club had been relegated and there was going to be a big change around so there was quite a lot of excitement and I still feel excited,” he said.

“There’s still a lot of jigsaw pieces to fit together to push you forward, so I always knew it was going to be a long-term thing and that keeps you alive.

“I’ve always tried to progress and push forwards and being here is allowing me to do that and it keeps you on your toes.

“I think to get the best out of yourself in any walk of life is to look to progress because you can get kind of stagnant.

“Keeping people on their toes and pushing people forward not only develops the team, it develops you as a player to see different variety’s and learning from that but also it’s pushing you because there is someone else there.

“I think you all want results as quickly as possible but with such a big project you have to understand that it is a progression, we’ve got lots of young players and it’s exciting. It’s time, that’s probably the one key factor but it’s enjoyable and I’ve loved it.

“The Chairman, he comes in and gives you that uplifting feeling that it’s all kind of going in the same way which is lovely.”
