The 32-year-old has netted twice this season, while all of the club's midfielders had only scored five times between them ahead of the Northampton Town clash on Saturday.

Danny Guthrie and Rory Holden scored their first Walsall goals in that 3-2 win, to take the tally to seven, and while Sinclair wants more goals to come from the middle of the park, he believes that following the manager's instructions is paramount.

“I think you can always add more," he said.

"It depends on the balance of the side and that’s the gaffer’s job. My job is to help the team as much as I can and do what the gaffer wants but you can always score more goals.

“It’s dependent on what the gaffer asks me.

"What I’ve tried to do is think how I can perform for the side and how I can make the team the best it can be.

"It’s a team sport and it’s about the team so trying to push in that way is how you get success. That’s how the gaffer wants to play and that’s why I enjoy playing with him."

Manager Darrell Clarke agreed that more goals were needed throughout the team, while adding that the delivery at set pieces needed to be better to give his defenders more chance of getting on the score sheet.

"We want goals all the way through the team, definitely," he added.

"You need that to be successful.

"In the early part of the season goals were a problem.

"I don't want to speak too early or curse myself but I do think we have goals in the team, in the starting XI or the bench.

"It's a game that you always have to keep working on and you want players chipping in from every area.

"We have got a few goals from set pieces this year but the delivery has been shocking recently.

"It's something we'll work on, we can all put good balls in in training.

"You get around that by working on it and making sure they produce in games.

"I certainly think the delivery at times has been poor and it's ongoing to work at."
