Walsall midfielder Stuart Sinclair insists the players must focus on the 'short-term' in the final months of the season.

With 12 games left, the Saddlers sit nine points off the play-offs and although Sinclair is tempted to look further 'forwards', he is adamant that the team need to take it one game at a time.

“There’s 12 games left and the aim is to win them all," he said.

"For us as players our job is to focus on the short term so I want to push as hard as I can and get as much as I can out of the remaining games.

"In terms of me personally and for the team in terms of progression.

"This is a big club and a has a huge history so just on that point it’s a pleasure to play for.

"Obviously, you want to look forwards and we want to create our own history and the supporters and community are part of that.

"It’s trying to make sure we carry pushing in the same direction, I think that’s important.

"I think they (the fans) can see that and I think they get frustrated but I don’t see a problem with that.

"I’d rather them get frustrated because that means they care, I get the same. After the 0-0 on against Newport I was in a funny mood because I didn’t feel like it was football and it’s frustrating.

“I think for us to progress forwards and be successful, I think that’s a minimum."

The 32-year-old missed a large part of January's fixtures due to a calf problem, but after returning as a regular feature in the side, he is now managing his body to stay fit for the rest of the campaign.

“I’ve just come back from injury so it was tough but I’ve had a bit of time to recover and I feel good," he added.

"I’ve been a bit more careful in the way I’ve managed my body to come back this time so I’m hoping it’s all good.

"It was my calf but it’s been managed and I feel good, I just want to play football games now."
