Saddlers striker Josh Gordon says the team are focusing on each game as it comes rather than looking at the league table.

Walsall sit 12th in League Two after a run of positive results over the festive period.

Darrell Clarke's side have only lost two of their last 10 league games and despite a disappointing defeat to Cheltenham at the weekend, Gordon says the team is focusing on themselves going forward.

"You just have to focus on what you're doing and focus on what our strengths and weaknesses have been," he said.

"Try to improve us as a team.

"It's a long season, you have to keep focusing on yourself and not concentrate on people behind or people in front.

"It was the same last season, I think these two leagues are very close.

"You can win a couple of games and you can find yourself higher up the table.

"You have to concentrate on yourself as a team and try and get as many points as you can to keep going up.

"We've started to create a bit more resilience.

"To be able to come back into games now - we've shown that we've started to progress."

Gordon, who has scored eight goals in all competitions this season, has started to hit the back of the net more frequently as the club's strikers look to take their chances.

And the 25-year-old says it's down to the team creating more opportunities.

"Towards the start of the season the strikers were looking at where the chances were going to come from," he added.

"But as you've seen in the games of late, we've had more chances.

"People are getting on the goal-sheet a bit more.

"As long as we can continue getting those chances then I think the goals will start coming.

"We have a game plan, especially of late we have a game plan of how we want to play.

"The strikers just have to follow that game plan and work together.

"We've all got the same understanding of what we need to do as forwards."
