Stuart Sinclair frustrated at Walsall showing

Saddlers midfielder Stuart Sinclair says the players feel like they have let the fans down after Saturday’s loss to Leyton Orient.

The 31-year-old put Walsall ahead in the first half before a second-half horror show from Walsall saw Darrell Clarke’s men concede three.

Sinclair was left ‘frustrated’ at the performance as he believes the team let down the ‘unbelievable’ travelling support of 832 fans.

“It was a game of two halves, but the game isn’t 45 minutes,” he said. “We have to concentrate and do more for 95 minutes and we’re not doing that at the minute and we need to do it next Saturday.

“We’re here for 95 minutes and not 45 so it doesn’t mean anything, it’s frustrating.

“We need to start coming together now and start putting demands on ourselves and making sure every game we’re at it, we can’t carry on, we need to do more.

“It’s (the support) been fantastic home and away, the passion they show is unbelievable – and that’s why it’s frustrating because in the first half we’re pushing forward, but the second half is so disappointing and it was shown in us and in the fans.

“That’s why this club can move forwards because it has such passion and we need to make sure we produce that on the pitch.

“Of course you do (feel like you’ve let fans down).

“From now until Saturday you’re disappointed, it’s your life so of course it affects you.”

The midfielder played in an unfamiliar role in a Walsall shirt against Orient, in the number 10 role behind striker Rory Gaffney.

He added: “I like it but to be honest I like playing football and being on the pitch so I’ll do everything I can and try to make those positive forward runs.”

The aim is now to get back to the consistency the club showed in their four-game winning streak, as Sinclair looks to build momentum on the back of two losses.

“We look forward to Saturday and we need to be positive and build some momentum back up,” he added. “We had four wins on the bounce so it’s about being consistent, especially in this league.

“If we can be consistent, we can start to climb and look forwards and as a club, players, staff and fans we need to try and galvanise the club and bring some consistency because I think that’s been lacking for quite a while.

“Football is such a beautiful game because you’ve got Saturday to put it right and there’s still a long way to go.

“We have a lot of work to do.”
