But under the guidance of new manager Darrell Clarke, they will be hoping to challenge for an immediate return to League One

Clarke has already signed seven players this summer as he works to overhaul the squad he inherited from Dean Keates.

The Saddlers’ latest recruit, Cameron Pring, will take shirt number three, with fellow full-back Shay Facey allocated number 24.

New boys Elijah Adebayo, James Hardy and Jack Kiersey will be numbers 11, 17 and 18 respectively.

Elsewhere, a host of players will wear different numbers to what they donned last year.

Morgan Ferrier, who was number 16, has replaced Andy Cook as Walsall's new number nine.

Fellow frontman Josh Gordon has been handed number 10 having previously worn 29.

Liam Kinsella takes over as number eight having donned 15 last season.

While right-back Cameron Norman has been given number two following the departure of Joe Edwards.

Goalkeeper Liam Roberts will continue in the number one jersey.

Youngsters Luke Little (22) and Tom Leak (23) have also been given numbers for the new campaign.

Shirts 13, 15 and 16 have been left available for new signings.
