And now Aramide Oteh is hoping he can be the man to fire the Saddlers to League One safety.

Martin O’Connor’s side saw a six-game losing streak come to and end when they drew against the Shrimpers on Good Friday.

That result has left them three points from safety with three games remaining heading into today’s clash at Wycombe.

And Oteh – who is on loan from Championship outfit QPR – admits this afternoon’s clash is a must win game.

“Wycombe is a massive game – we have to win, it’s as simple as that,” the striker said.

“We got a crucial point against Southend. Some will say it was lucky, others will say our persistence paid off. But we have now got to beat Wycombe.

“They have lost 10 of their last 12. The are battling to stay up as well.

“I believe we can still get out of this. But we have to perform and get three points.”

Oteh has made just three starts since joining the Saddlers on loan from QPR in January.

But the 20-year-old is expected to start today’s clash at Adams Park. And he is now targeting more goals after admitting he has been left frustrated by his lack of playing time.

“It has been frustrating I won’t lie,” Oteh continued. “When you are a footballer you want to play.

“But when the results don’t go well and you still don’t play, it’s even more frustrating.

“You just have to keep positive because a chance could come at any point.

“I have played a few times, but as a striker – whether you play the whole game or 10 minutes – you always want to score.

“Now I have got my first goal it’s a weight off my shoulders.

“It was in the 90th minute, I kept my composure.

“Hopefully I can now get a few more in the remaining games because that point against Southend, it could be a crucial point. We don’t know where it can take us.”
