The right-back's emphatic finish saw the Saddlers beat Coventry City 3-2 in the FA Cup first round.

He struck after Jonson Clarke-Harris and Luke Thomas had cancelled out finishes from Andy Cook and Josh Ginnelly for the hosts.

"I'm delighted. It's my first goal for the club, my first goal in probably two-and-a-half years," said Devlin, who joined the club in June of last year.

"It's something I need to add to my game, even though I'm a defender.

"When Liam Kinsella slipped me in, I just had to make sure that I hit the target.

"I managed to do that, and it's gone in.

"I need to contribute a bit more with goals, but the main thing was being in the next round.

He added: "Before the game, obviously the main objective was to get through.

"It was a bit end-to-end, but we won so it was a great day for us."
