The Saddlers hitman, who already has two goals this term after joining from National League Boreham Wood in the summer, says the quality of service into him has made life simple at the Banks’s Stadium.

The 23-year-old, from London, has already established himself as a fans’ favourite with the Walsall crowd.

Dean Keates’s unbeaten side host Doncaster today and ahead of the clash Ferrier admits life in League One has been made simpler than he thought.

“As a striker, it sounds weird, but it (the jump in level) can be a bit easier,” said the frontman.

“I’ve played in non-league and the type of striker I am, I like to make runs in behind the defences.

“When you’re playing with not as good midfield players you have to make more runs, but here where I’ve got midfielders with unbelievable quality, instead of making 20 runs and getting the ball twice, I can make 10 and might get it five times.

“I’m finding it easier in certain respects. Out of possession it’s a lot more demanding because team will punish you, but in possession it’s been easier. There’s pros and cons and I’m enjoying it.”

Ferrier continued: “The way we’ve started helps breed confidence, in the first couple of games I didn’t know what to expect.

“I’ve played against a few defenders and realised it isn’t as hard as I thought it’d be because the team are doing well.”
