In a move that will delight Saddlers supporters, the 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with a year's option.

Ismail joined Walsall on a six-month loan from Bury in August last year and became a fans favourite following a series of eye-catching displays.

Both the player and the club had been keen for that temporary switch to be extended.

But with the Shakers under new management and embroiled in a scrap at the bottom of League One, Ismail was recalled to Gigg Lane.

Now though, he has put pen to paper on a permanent deal with the Saddlers after his contract at Bury expired.

And the forward, who has been given the number 10 shirt, admitted he is delighted to be back.

“I’m buzzing to be back,” said the former Bury man.

“I felt like I did well when I was here on loan.

“I had a great connection with the fans and they were really positive towards me. Every time I got on the ball, they gave me a boost.

“I know the boys – they’re brilliant – and I’m looking to meeting the new boys too.

“I can’t wait to get started.”
