One-year-old Teddie Phillips has been diagnosed with Globoid Cell Leukodystrophy, which is also known as Krabbe Disease.

The youngster, from Beechdale, Walsall, has a life expectancy of just two-years-old but his inspirational family – who are Saddlers fans – have vowed to give Teddie as many experiences as they can.

Now they have teamed up with Nicky Devlin so that Teddie can be a mascot for today’s game at the Banks’s Stadium – with the Walsall star set to carry the little boy onto the pitch.

“I’m really looking forward to Teddie being our mascot,” Devlin said

“I saw his story on line a few months ago. As soon as I saw his picture it broke my heart.

“It was difficult to see a little boy who is so young and doesn’t know any different. It really got to me.

“That’s why I got in contract with the family to say that if there is anything I could, I didn’t want them to be afraid to ask.

“I hope I never have to and I don’t know what the family are going through.

“But I saw the story and it really touched me so we all just want to give him a fantastic day.

“He is one of the mascots and I’ll be carrying him out.

“His family want to create memories for me so if I and the rest of the boys can contribute to that in any way then we will.”
