An end to end tie opened up on the 16th minute with United forced into a goal-line clearance to deny Alex Harvey.

Straight up the other end Jack Lenehan had a floated shot heading into the top corner denied by a Lewis King stop.

Despite Rangers looking the most likely for a winner the visitors replied with Michael Donohue’s shot blocked before looping back to Tunde Owolabiu, but his effort flew over.

The Boro were putting their bodies on the line and after the break United were denied by three blocks.

At the other end Rangers tried to use their pace running on to long ball but were thwarted by the defence.

In front of a crowd of 946 the Boro had two chances to win the tie late on but settled for a draw.
