Rangers were set to unveil their new chief today, after the departure of Neil Kitching.

Ex-Boro player Steve Burr, who recently left league rivals Stalybridge Celtic and has also managed Kidderminster Harriers, was the hot favourite for the job.

“We’re hoping for the play-offs, that’s basically it,” said Bromley, when asked what is expected of the arriving gaffer.

“There may be a year to consolidate and then perhaps the second year we can, hopefully, get into those play-offs.”

Kitching and Amos spent four years at Rangers, winning the Evo-Stik First Division South in their second season and also clinching two Staffordshire Senior Cups.

Bromley praised them for their efforts, stating: “They did very well for us, they picked us out of the doldrums and put Stafford Rangers back on the map.

“They did great for the club and they’ll get another good team, even if they have a bit of a break, as they’re too good to be out of it for too long.”

Rangers are waiting to find out whether they will be in the Evo-stik Premier League or the newly formed step three ‘Central League’ following the restructuring of non-league football for 2018-19.
