Rushall Olympic began life on their new 3G playing surface with a fine victory over Redditch United

Published

It took just fifteen minutes for the home side to go ahead when Levi Rowley saw his shot cleared off the line but Jonathan Letford fired the ball home from close range.

Seven minutes later the visitors were back on level terms when Ryan Moore`s powerfully struck shot beat Adam Whitehouse in the Pics goal.

The home side struck back and a cross from Shaquille Leachman-Whittingham was just to high for Sam Whittall and good play from Danny Waldron found the excellent Reece Mitchell whose dangerous cross into the area just evaded the onrushing Levi Rowley. As the home side kept up the pressure a fierce drive from Rowley just cleared the bar

Rushall began the second half on the attack and Waldron went on a good run but shot wildly over the bar but eight minutes later it was the visitors who almost went ahead when Dan Sweeney flicked the ball past Whitehouse and with the ball running into an empty net Chekaine Steele got back to clear.

It was the Pics though who went back in front in the sixty seventh minute when Waldron got on the end of a superb cross from Steele to force the ball home.

It was end to end now and the visitors were given a lifeline with eleven minutes to go. Callum Coyle`s terrific run end when he was bundled over in the area but Whitehouse made a terrific save to keep out his well struck shot.

Five minutes later though the home side were awarded a penalty of their own when substitute Ben Lund was brought down by Max Beardmore in the Reds goal and up stepped skipper Sam Whittall to score from the resultant penalty for the second consecutive game
