Pitmen hit for six by Burton

A high-scoring encounter saw Hednesford Town knocked out of the Birmingham Senior Cup first round 6-3 by Burton Albion at Keys Park.

Jake Buxton and David Templeton put the visitors 2-0 up inside 11 minutes.

Lloyd Dyer and Tom Hewlett added further goals before the break and Hewlett made it 5-0 five minutes into the second period.

Tom Fry and Elliott Hodge netted for the Pitmen before Templeton added his second. Fry scored direct from a corner on 71 minutes to complete the scoring.

There will be further action in the Birmingham Senior Cup when a West Bromwich Albion XI take on Redditch United tonight.

Wolves Casuals and Wolves Sporting face one another in the first round of the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

Chasetown host Leek Town in the Walsall Senior Cup and Tividale travel to Rocester.

Rushall Olympic travel to Nuneaton Borough in the first round of the Southern League Challenge Cup, while Stafford Rangers will be hoping for their first three points of the Northern Premier campaign when they host Witton Albion.
