‘Snapper’ has been announced as new boss Paul Smith’s No.2 at the recently relegated Yeltz.

Smith filled the void after Halesowen finished a disappointing season with former Albion striker Lee Hughes as player-manager.

Snape this week quit as boss of Midland League side Worcester City. He made 284 appearances for the Yeltz, scoring 25 goals, in six years between 1992 and 1998.

Former Bromsgrove Sporting and Redditch boss Smith completed his backroom staff with the appointment of first-team coach Craig Nicholls and goalkeeper coach Josh Coney, who were with him at Redditch.

Richard Evans-Hadley and Craig Harris, who were in interim charge with forward Hughes, have left the club.

Smith said of Snape’s appointment: “I’ve known ‘Snapper’ for a number of years and as soon as I knew he was interested I was delighted.

“He was a tremendous player in his day, who has done brilliantly managing Worcester City. It’s a fantastic appointment and one I think will be greatly received by the fans.”
