Strong winds and heavy rain made playing conditions very difficult but both teams deserve great credit for what turned out to be a hard fought local derby.

Chances turned out to be few and far between but it was the visitors who began well when home goalkeeper Matt Sargeant clawed a cross away from Lee Hughes and then dived to push away a shot from Andre Wright.

It took the home side until the twenty eighth minute to have a shot on goal when Danny Waldron cut in but saw his shot held at the second attempt by Dan Platt and the home side went close a couple of occasions shortly before half time.

A free-kick on the edge of the box saw Tyler Lyttle bring a save out of Platt and then home captain Ashley Sammons worked a good opening but his shot lacked pace and was easily gathered by Platt.

It was the home side who opened brightly at the beginning of the second half, Lyttle curling a free-kick over and Waldron forcing Platt into another save.

At the other end a header from Keiron Morris brought a flying save from Sargeant and substitute Jack Kelly sent a free-kick over the bar.

As the game drew towards a close both sides went close to snatching a winner when Andre Wright`s low cross just evaded Ivor Lawton and at the other end Aram Soleman`s cross flashed across the face of the goal with no Pics player on hand to force the ball home.
