Chasetown took the lead with a worldy after 15 minutes. A superb move saw Niall Flint cross for Jack Partridge who headed into the path of Tom Hill. Hill cushioned the ball to Will Whieldon who fired beyond a flat footed Chris Thompson who could only watch as it flew into the top corner.

Dan Vann headed a corner over the bar as the Scholars tried to double their advantage.

Droylsden had lots of good possession but were unable to force keeper Curtis Pond into any danger in the opening half.

The visitors had the lion's share of the second half ball too but skied efforts well over from long range.

At the start of second half stoppage time a Phil Marsh header for the Bloods was straight at Pond.
