Aston Villa to pay up after Tyrone Mings’ England call
Villa are due to pay Bournemouth a further £250,000 after defender Tyrone Mings made his England debut.
The payment is owed as part of the deal which saw the 26-year-old move to the Midlands in July.
Mings, who earned his first cap in Monday’s 6-0 win over Bulgaria, joined for an initial fee of around £20million but Villa will pay an additional £250,000 for each of his first four England appearances.
The total value of the deal could eventually reach £26.5million, depending on other club-related clauses being met.
Mings impressed on his international bow, both with his performance in defence and in the manner he handled the racist abuse directed toward him by a section of the Bulgarian support.
He has now returned to Bodymoor Heath as Villa prepare to resume their Premier League campaign at home to Brighton on Saturday.
