Reports in Belgium claim the Zimbabwe international failed to report back for pre-season training yesterday.

Nakamba, who had been granted extra time off following the Africa Cup of Nations, is thought to be unhappy with Brugge for rejecting offers from both Villa and Cologne in recent weeks.

The 25-year-old has been among several midfielders being monitored by newly-promoted Villa over the course of the summer.

They are now closing in on the £15million capture of Manchester City’s Douglas Luiz, while a move for Reims defender Bjorn Engels is also expected to be finalised in the coming days.

Striker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has been linked with a loan move to Tranmere.
