The 28-year-old played an integral role for the club last season, memorably scoring in Villa's play-off semi-final win over West Brom at Villa Park.

The midfielder scored nine times over the club's promotion campaign and registered 12 assists. He's made a total of 111 appearances in claret and blue since joining in 2017.

"I'm absolutely delighted. It's exciting times for the club with us moving into the Premier League." he said, following the announcement of his new deal.

"I've waited all my career for the opportunity to play at this level and the time has now arrived.

"I'm really looking forward to the season ahead. It's a big period for me personally as I've come all the way from League Two to reach the top.

"I've always had challenges over my career. I've always risen to them. I can do so again.

"I'm glad to sign and look forward to being here for seasons ahead."
