The Brazilian striker, 22, begins training with Villa on Wednesday morning after arriving in the UK.

He has been acclimatising to his new home with technical director Jesus Pitarch, and posing for photos at Villa Park, beaming happily.

"I'm really happy to sign for Aston Villa," he said. "Now I'm hoping to settle in quickly so I can help the team win trophies and rise up the table."

He added: "You're going to see a lot of power, a lot of quality.

"Like I said, first I want to settle in as quickly as possible. Then you'll see."

Villa also confirmed Moraes' capture for in the region of £22million represented a club record deal, eclipsing the money paid for Darren Bent in 2011.

Bent was signed from Sunderland for an initial £18m – though add-ons could have taken it as high as £24m.

On becoming Villa's new record signing, Moraes added: "I was really happy when I heard that Aston Villa were interested in me, and for a record fee.

"I'm just hoping that now I'll be able to show why out on the pitch."

And he can't wait to get out on the pitch in the Premier League: "For me it's a real stage, a great championship.

"I'm hoping I can adapt quickly and show what I've got to offer.

"Everyone's really happy. When my mum heard I was going to be playing football in England, she was so happy, just like the rest of my family.

"Now it's going to be easier for them to watch my matches too.

"So they're really happy that I've signed for Aston Villa."

He added: "It's going to be a real pleasure for me to play against the big teams, as someone who used to play against those teams and their players on video games.

"So I'm really happy to have the chance to play in the Premier League and I'm hoping to play well and score lots of goals."
