Dean Smith: One Aston Villa game at a time

Dean Smith has urged Villa to ignore the play-off picture and focus on Nottingham Forest as they aim to further accelerate a late season charge tomorrow night.

Villa head to the East Midlands aiming hoping to record three consecutive wins for only the second time this season.

Back-to-back victories over Derby and Blues has seen them halve the deficit to the top six from eight to four points and beating Forest would see them leapfrog Martin O’Neill’s team in the table.

But boss Smith is keen for his players not to get ahead of themselves.

He said: “We are just taking it one game at a time. We have another game against Nottingham Forest to try to get another three points. It is little targets all the time.”

Smith hopes to have Axel Tuanzebe (foot) and Henri Lansbury (hamstring) back after the forthcoming international break.
