Steve Bruce’s men begin a third consecutive campaign in the second tier by travelling to face the Tigers - the same team they hosted on the opening weekend of last season - on Monday, August 6.

Both fixtures against Hull, the team with whom boss Bruce twice won promotion, ended in draws last term.

Villa then host League One champions Wigan in their first home game of the season on Saturday, August 11, before an early season trip to Ipswich on Saturday, August 18.

The opening month of the campaign is rounded off by back-to-back home games with Brentford on Tuesday, August 21 and Reading on Saturday, August 25.

A trip to Sheffield United awaits on Saturday, September 1.

The first Second City Derby of the campaign takes place on November 24 when Blues visit Villa Park, with the return fixture at St Andrew’s on March 9.

The first derby clash with Albion in three seasons is scheduled for December 8 when Villa visit The Hawthorns. The Baggies are due to head to Villa Park on February 16.

Another hectic festive period sees Villa play four fixtures in the space of just 11 days.

It begins with a home clash against Leeds on December 22, before trips to Swansea and Preston on Boxing Day and December 29 respectively. QPR then visit Villa Park on New Year’s Day.

Villa’s final away fixture of the campaign is against Leeds at Elland Road on April 27. They complete the season at home to Norwich on May 5.

All fixtures are subject to change due to TV scheduling.
