The 37-year-old, who is currently sidelined from footballing action after he broke a metatarsal, shared the new purchase to his fans on Instagram.

He has quite literally had to put his feet up and has been enjoying some downtime with his family by wheeling and dealing in the property trading game, complete with gold houses and hotels.

Terry said he and his family have been enjoying playing the board game together.

He wrote on the social media site Instagram: "Family Monopoly last night in the TERRY household. Well done @sum26terry 🏆 @toniterry26 @georgie26terry #JT #26"

The board has been designed with his initials JT in a golden colour, and his football shirt number is also featured.

The stylish Monopoly board is at the higher end of the game available for enthusiasts.

As well as the traditional format, the game makers have created hundreds of geographic versions as well as special editions like Star Wars and Coronation Street.

A Wolverhampton version was released back in 2013, which places the city on a par with the likes of London, Chicago, Milan and Berlin.

A total of 22 city landmarks – plus nearby Dudley Zoo – feature on the board.

Wolverhampton Market, British Mensa, the Express & Star and the Grand Theatre are among the buildings and businesses on the board.

And the priciest property on the board, making it the equivalent of Mayfair, is historic Wightwick Manor.
