Impressive Gary Anderson targeting a Slam title
Gary Anderson’s impressive record at the bwin Grand Slam of Darts continued as he joined James Wade in reaching the knockout stage with a 100 percent record.
Anderson has won through the group stage at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton in each year since the Grand Slam was introduced in 2007, and topped Group D thanks to a comprehensive 5-1 win against already-eliminated Steve Hine. “I’m happy with that win, it’s a good record to have got through every group stage and things are going okay so far,” said Anderson.
“This is a tournament I love – it’s probably my favourite – so it would be fantastic to win this but there’s a long way to go yet.”
Later in the evening, world number one Michael Van Gerwen sealed his place in the next round with a comfortable 5-1 victory over Joe Murnan.
