The South Staffs League champions face Wem at Walsall CC in the final round of play-off games.

Pelsall bagged a winning draw at home to Astwood Bank before losing at Walmley in last weekend’s double-header.

All four sides are still in the mix for the two promotion spots but Pelsall will need to get the better of Wem, who need just two points to go up, and hope that Walmley fail to beat Astwood Bank on Saturday.

A win may not be enough to take Pelsall up, but skipper Danny Pennell is keen to end a fine summer on a positive note.

“You would say Wem and Walmley are the favourites to go up, but we want to end the season with a positive result,” said Pennell.

“If that takes us up, then great. If not, it won’t detract from what has been a great season for us.

“We are still in there with a chance and we will give it our best shot.”

Todd Henderson shone with the bat against Astwood Bank, top scoring with 74 in Pelsall’s 242. The visitors were then restricted to 226-8.

Sunday’s clash saw Pelsall dismissed for 153 at Walmley on their way to a seven-wicket defeat.
