Sam Mills, who had earlier taken 4-27 with the ball, and James Rogers held their nerve at the end of the innings to give Walsall a second win of the season.

Moseley had battled to 159 all out from 47.3 overs with left-arm spinner Mills the pick of the bowlers. Billy Cox also took 3-30.

Walsall’s reply was built around a 50 from wicketkeeper James Middleton, but when he was dismissed at 144, two more wickets fell quickly, leaving the last two batsmen requiring five runs.

And they struck the winner with one ball to spare.

Fourth-placed Smethwick are level on 53 points with Walsall after their victory over Dorridge, inspired by Gurinder Singh.

After taking 4-27 to help dismiss Dorridge for 120, Singh then top scored with 41 and put on a fifth-wicket stand of 65 with Faisal Shahid (32*) that eased Smethwick to victory.

Neil Pinner’s 78 for Kidderminster wasn’t enough to stop his side losing to Shifnal by three wickets after the Shropshire club chased down 154.

Liam Weston finished with 3-19 for Kidderminster, who are two points further back.

West Bromwich Dartmouth endured a tough day, losing by eight wickets to Knowle & Dorridge after being skittled out for just 95.
