Remembrance Sunday 2017

Once again we are preparing for our annual big weekend.

Remembrance service at Wrottesley Park

On Saturday 11 November we will be gathering in Jeffcock Road cemetery to remember the Dutch personnel who formed the Prinses Irene Brigade at Wrottesley Park during WWII. The people who are buried in our cemetery lost their loves during training while the main brigade went on to land on Juno Beach on D Day. The Mayor is intending to join us for this service and we will muster at 09.15 hrs.

This will also include a tribute to Miss Williams who donated a large sum of money to the Wolverhampton RBL and there will be our annual 11th of the 11th gathering.

During the afternoon of the same day the Staffordshire Regiment Association will muster at the war memorial in Bilston cemetery at 13.00 hrs for a short wreath laying and remembrance.

Of course, Sunday 12 November is the big parade and service in Wolverhampton with a drum head service and wreath laying on the steps of St Peter’s before a service inside the church.

While most people are in church the local Sea Cadets will be holding their own act of remembrance by the memorial to Seaman Harris in St Peter’s gardens. This is a lovely little service for those who don’t care to go into church or cannot get a seat. Please support our local cadets.
