MPs should hang their heads in shame over homeless

Does anyone have the true figures of how many people are sleeping rough be it locally or nationally?

What we do know is the figure is growing and without even bothering to listen to the politicians, we all know that with universal benefits being rolled out then so does the bed roll.

The delay in assessments and payments has driven people into rent and council tax arrears, food banks might put some food on the table but it doesn't put heat under the pan or light in the kitchen.

And it might come as a surprise to MPs there isn't a tax free allowance on universal credit, but the political arguments pale into insignificance, when you are curled up in a doorway and your only friend an old mutt on a bit of string, your pal and security guard, old faithful is all you've got.

A sad indictment of 21st century Britain, our politicians should hang their heads in shame, they are elected to look after our citizens but all we see is a group of privileged people looking after themselves.
