The Prince of Wales will be meeting some of the skilled costume and prop-makers from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) as part of a visit to Warwickshire.

Charles will be shown examples of the 40,000 items which make up the RSC’s costume store and tour the site of the on-going multi-million pound redevelopment of the company’s existing Costume Workshop buildings.

As part of the visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, the prince will also view a short performance from The Boy in the Dress at the RSC’s The Other Place venue, a short walk from its main riverside theatre.

Later in Coventry, Charles will officially open the National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC) at the University of Warwick’s main campus site on the outskirts of the city.

He is set to meet relatives of the late Professor Lord Bhattacharyya, who developed the idea for a centre of excellence in cutting-edge engineering innovation.

The Prince will also see a showcase of concepts for the future of sustainable travel from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), Tata Motors and the Warwick Manufacturing Group.

These exhibits include electric racing vehicles developed by engineering students and Jaguar’s self-driving prototype, the I-Pace.

Charles is also meeting the students, apprentices and employees at what is the largest automotive research and development facility of its kind in Europe.

In his role as patron of The Almshouse Association, the prince is later visiting the Nicholas Chamberlaine Almshouses in Bedworth, in the north of the county.

He is set to meet one of the residents in their home and will later be planting a tree in the gardens to mark his visit.
