Protesters unhappy about family court “secrecy” are preparing for another month camping outside London’s biggest court complex.

Around a dozen demonstrators pitched tents at the front of the Royal Courts of Justice as a protest against “secrecy” late last year.

The demonstration has been organised by scaffolder Mark Chambers who has posted a list of recommendations for change on a tent.

He says more than a dozen people, from various parts of England, who have been embroiled in family court litigation are taking part – and some have staged hunger strikes.

“There’s too much secrecy about family courts,” said Mr Chambers, who comes from the London area and is in his 50s.

“We are not saying that all family court hearings should be staged in public.

“Obviously children have to be protected – but change is needed.

“Too many enormous decisions are being taken behind closed doors.”
