Police searching for an Aberdeen teenager who has not been seen for two days have released CCTV footage of him.

Liam Smith, 16, was last spotted on Saturday afternoon in Union Square, Aberdeen, where he boarded a 202 bus to Deeside at around 1.30pm.

He was reported missing the following day.

Police have released CCTV images of the teenager at McDonald’s in Union Street at 12.28pm on Saturday in the hope of jogging people’s memories.

It is understood Liam bought food there before making his way to the bus stop.

Officers are urging anyone who saw the 16-year-old or has information about his whereabouts to contact them.

Inspector Jackie Knight said: “Liam was reported missing to police on Sunday morning but he was last seen during the afternoon of Saturday November 17.

“Given the passage of time his family is naturally becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

“We are asking that if anyone saw him on board the 202 bus on Saturday that they contact us. We just want to make sure he is safe and well as soon as possible.

“I would also appeal directly to Liam that if you are reading this you contact police to let us know you are OK.

“Enquiries are ongoing with the bus company to establish where and when Liam got off the bus but we would urge anyone who saw him on the bus or has seen him in the Deeside area to contact police on 101 using reference number 1302 of 19 November.”

Liam is white, 6ft 4in and of slim build with short brown hair.

When last seen he was wearing a dark top, blue jeans and Nike Air Max trainers and is also understood to be carrying a camouflage North Face backpack.
