Road closed in Wolverhampton after two-car crash

A road was closed to traffic and trams in Wolverhampton today after a two-car crash.

A41 Bilston Road

The accident happened took place on A41 Bilston Road, near to the junction with Steelhouse Lane and The Royal tram stop.

The road was closed by West Midlands Police after officers were called to the scene at 10.12am.

It is believed there were no serious injuries but the road was shut so a recovery operation could take place.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "There was a crash on the Bilston Road at the junction with Steelhouse Lane.

"Everyone was out of the vehicles upon our arrival. A recovery team was on the way about an hour ago."

West Midlands Metro said services had been disrupted following the crash.

The number 79 bus, which runs between Wolverhampton and West Bromwich, was also diverted.
