Train disruption between Wolverhampton and Birmingham due to fire
Trains were blocked in both directions between Wolverhampton and Birmingham due to a fire this afternoon.
Services were being cancelled and delayed due to a fire near Dudley Port Railway Station shortly before 2pm.
Trains were initially blocked heading towards Wolverhampton from Birmingham.
West Midlands Railway later confirmed that the fire was blocking services in both directions.
Services were stopped so that firefighters could tackle the blaze on grass by the train tracks.
Spokeswoman for West Midlands Railway, Rebecca Preece, said: "Trains travelling between Birmingham and Wolverhampton, in both directions, are blocked.
"There will be knock-on affects to services.
"People are advised to check before they travel and pay repay will be available for people delayed by more than 15 minutes."
Passengers with train tickets were being allowed to travel on buses throughout the Black Country.
West Midlands Fire Service spokesman Matthew Smith said: "We were called at 1.52pm, from a 999 call, to an area nearby to Dudley Port train station.
"Two crews, from Dudley and Tipton, and eight fire fighters are at the scene.
"The fire involves trees and grass by the train track.
"Trains were stopped to allow crews to access the line.
"Two main water jets are being used to tackle the fire."
