A41 closed as driver injured in Wolverhampton crash

A major route into Wolverhampton was closed after a crash left two people injured this morning.

Traffic was at a standstill on the A41 Wellington Road in Bilston after two cars were involved in a collision.

The incident happened at rush hour just after 9am at the junction for Bell Street.

Two people, a man and a woman who are thought to be the drivers of both cars, were injured.

It's believed the woman was taken to hospital while the man was treated at the scene.

The A41 is a main route for commuters heading into Wolverhampton and leads onto Bilston Street before entering the city.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called just before 9am to reports of a two car RTC at the junction of Bell Street and Cemetery Street.

"Two ambulances attended the scene and treated two patients, a man and a woman.

"One of them was taken to hospital while the other was discharged at the scene."

The road has now re-opened.
