A signalling fault on the railway line between Wolverhampton and Sandwell and Dudley caused services to be delayed, cancelled or revised.

Tickets were being accepted on the Midland Metro due to the disruption.

Lines have since reopened, with delays of up to 45 minutes expected on the line.

National Rail tweeted: "Al lines have reopened between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street following a fault with the signalling system between Wolverhampton and Sandwell & Dudley.

"As trains return to normal, some services will be delayed by up to 45 minutes, cancelled or revised."

Services between Rugeley Trent Valley and Walsall had to run at reduced speed on the line towards Walsall due to a safety inspection of the track, leading to delays through the route.
