Three taken to hospital as car hits bridge on Brierley Hill Road

Six people were left needing emergency care after a car crashed into a bridge this afternoon.

Paramedics rushed to the scene on Brierley Hill Road, in Wordsley, Stourbridge, where three adults were taken to hospital.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that another person and two children were also discharged from their care at the incident – which happened around 4pm.

Police officers and firefighters were also at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.50pm to Brierley Hill Road to reports of a car that has collided with a bridge.

"We sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a critical care car from Midland Air Ambulance.

"In total we assessed six patients. Three have been discharged, which included two children, and three adults will be taken to hospital but they have not gone yet.

"We still have two vehicles currently at the scene."

The road was still closed at 5.30pm.
