The development would sit next to Reedswood Retail Park in Bloxwich and will be almost the size of three football pitches.

Walsall Council planning officers have recommended the application for Reedswood Way for approval this week.

The 18,500 square-metre project - which could see a mixture of business offices, general industrial units as well as storage or distribution units built - will create jobs and help support the local economy, according to the developer, Leicester-based Brackley Property Developments.

The final plans of development have not yet been determined and the developer says the site could be developed as a single unit or multiple units – depending on the needs and demands of the market.

Councillor Lee Jeavons, regeneration chief at Walsall Council and ward member the Birchills Leamore ward where the project is to go, said: “This land has been lying fallow for some time and I see this as an ideal and accessible employment site.

“This is an exciting development and I am delighted to see it being brought forward.”

The final plans of development have not yet been determined and the developers says the site could be developed as a single unit or it may come forward as multiple units – depending on the needs and demands of the market.

Councillors, who will make a decision at the planning committee meeting on Thursday, have been recommended to delegate the outline application to the head of Planning, Engineering and Transportation to grant permission, subject to conditions.

Since the re-development of the adjacent commercial area was finished about 15 years ago, the site has been an unmanaged brownfield site comprising of grass, shrubs and vegetation.

The plans will include access from Reedswood Way and parking provision on the site.
