Fifteen of Cannock Chase’s 41 seats are up for grabs when voters go to the polls on May 2, in what should see an intriguing battle as the Tories attempt to bridge a six-seat gap to the ruling Labour group.

The last time these seats were up in 2015, the Conservatives won nine seats to Labour’s six.

While neighbouring authorities for Stafford Borough and South Staffordshire will be holding full elections – which take place once every four years – Cannock Chase residents go to the polls three years out of every four.

The full list of candidates in Cannock Chase

Cannock Chase Council currently has 21 Labour members, 15 Conservative members, three Green Party members, a Liberal Democrat and an independent member.

The other four members standing down are Etching Hill and the Heath’s Jim Bowater, Heath Hayes East and Wimblebury’s Colin Lea, Rawnsley’s Claire Peake and Western Springs’ Anne Allt.
