Neena Gill, who is campaigning to get Labour candidates elected to parliament across the West Midlands, embarked on a four-day visit to India to celebrate the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

And she was happy to join the Prince Of Wales in New Delhi, where they offered their best wishes to Sikhs across the globe on the 550th anniversary of the birth of the most revered Guru in the Sikh religion.

The Guru was born in 1469 and his life and teachings continue to be an inspiration for millions of Sikhs and non-Sikhs across the world.

Ms Gill was among 550 high profile representatives invited by the Indian Government to celebrate the anniversary and pay their respects.

She said her time in New Dehli was "an incredible experience" which marked Britain and India’s shared common interests and the contribution of the Sikh community in the UK.

"This anniversary is a momentous occasion for Sikhs around the world, so to be invited to meet HRH The Prince of Wales was an absolute privilege," she added.

"Britain, India and the Sikh diaspora have such strong common interests, that is why I am so pleased HRH The Prince of Wales chose to visit Dehli to celebrate this relationship.

"It was an honour to give our tributes to Guru Nanak Ji together, and certainly a moment I will not forget."

Prince Charles celebrated the 550th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.

During her visit Ms Gill went to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and walked the Kartarpur corridor connecting holy Sikh temples in India and Pakistan.

The Prince of Wales' trip – billed as a celebration of 'British-Indian connections with a focus on sustainability', marked the tenth time he has visited India.

He met with President Ram Nath Kovind, before visiting a number of businesses and then taking part in a Remembrance Day service where he laid a wreath to commemorate all those who have lost their lives serving their country.
