Labour has began an investigation into bullying claims by a Sandwell councillor.

A letter, signed by 22 Sandwell councillors, was sent to the party's national committee calling for an enquiry.

Wednesbury North councillor Luke Giles went public this week with claims that he faced bullying and harassment from Labour and a trade union.

He claims this came about because he refused to vote for councillor Yvonne Davies in Sandwell Council's leadership election in March.

Councillor Giles claims he had made three separate complaints since November but Labour disputed this saying none was made.

However, it is understood the party has now begun an investigation.

Deputy Labour leader and West Bromwich East MP Tom Watson also weighed in by calling for a full investigation.
