TV star gives an insight into the best ways to buy or sell a used car

Used car expert and TV presenter Mike Brewer has revealed his tried-and-tested tips for buying a second-hand car to celebrate the launch of his new website MikeBrewerMotoring.com.

One half of the Wheeler Dealers’ duo has explained how car buyers can get the best deal, save cash and have peace of mind when purchasing their next vehicle in post on his new website.

The site, which launched today (June 13), aims to give his fans an insight into how he buys and sells cars, and features a range of guides and video blogs directly from the wheeler dealer himself.

Mike’s tips are based around six easy-to-remember points, giving consumers a step-by-step guide on how to get the very best deal when buying a used car.

  • Check its history – Always do a background check on a vehicle, and ask to see all relevant paperwork
  • Ask questions – there’s no such thing as a bad question – ask as many as you can!
  • Get up close and personal – Look in all the nooks and crannies to make sure the car has been well looked after.
  • Look under the bonnet – A clean engine may not mean all is well – check seals and filler caps for creamy residue, too – this can be a sign that mechanical troubles lie ahead.
  • Check the interior – Worn seat bolsters could be a sign of a hard life – look for tired plastics too.
  • Do the deal – Don’t be afraid to walk away if you’re not getting the deal you want. Stay strong until you’ve reached a price that works for you.

MikeBrewerMotoring.com looks to offer hints and tips to those who want to increase their car buying abilities, as well allowing people a closer look as to how Mike interacts with sellers, buyers and enthusiasts – both in the UK and America.

“I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while,” said Mike, whose own dealership Mike Brewer Motors has branches in Sheffield and Luton.

“I’ve spent my life with cars and made an amazing career out of them, so it seems logical to have a place where I can share the benefit of my experience, my anecdotes and some of my car buying and selling advice with other like-minded petrolheads.”

The site is brimmed with car-related news and reviews, as well as consumer advice useful for even the most clued-up four-wheel aficionado. It’s now live – and can be accessed via www.mikebrewermotoring.com
