Daniel Sanzone, aged 23, will stand trial in October accused of murdering Joshua Millinson who was just 13-days-old when he was taken to New Cross Hospital with cardiac arrest in October.

After spending almost a month in intensive care, Joshua died on November 21.

Sanzone, of Whitburn Close, Pendeford, entered his not guilty plea for the first time at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday.

Also in court was the boy's mother, Zoe Howell, of the same address, who pleaded not guilty to counts of allowing the death of a child and cruelty to a child. Sanzone also enter not guilty pleas to those charges.

Joshua's father sat bent forward in the dock and held his hand over his face for the majority of the hearing.

Howell, 18 , sat in the well of the court clutching a small teddy-bear.

A trial date is set for October 4 until which Sanzone was remanded in custody.

Howell's bail conditions state she must live at a specified address, wear an electronic tag, comply with a 10pm to 7am curfew and must not make contact with Sanzone, or anyone under 16.
